The French and American pupils began writing letters a few months ago. We asked them to write in both languages. Indeed, we thought if they only wrote in their practicing
language, the ideas they expressed might be limited. The exchange would be more interesting if they could express themselves naturally. Other advantages included both parties
improving their reading skills. This would help their vocabulary, idioms, natural syntax, and promote cultural exchange.
We received around 50 letters from Austin … nothing was imposed on the pupils as to what should have been written or not. Here are some of them.
→ Cassie to Emeline letter 1
→Madie to Valéran letter 2
→Riley to Vincent letter 3
→Saddik to Jules letter 4
→Hannah to Félia Letter 5
Let’s put pen to paper !
Here are some answers of the pupils to their overseas buddies. It would be easy to assume that email and social media killed off the traditional pen pal system. However, no one in the class objected to typing notes detailing favourite hobbies or asking questions about the American elections .(nothing has been corrected )
→Antoine to Elisabeth →letter A
→Marie to Hannah →letter B
→Camille to Sydnee→letter C
→ Arthur to Adam →letter D
